Dr. Angela Gerretsen, D.V.M.


Dr. Angela Gerretsen graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1995. Angela joined Mitchell Veterinary Services in 1998. She grew up on a dairy farm and continues to farm with her husband. Angela’s main focus is on small animal medicine and surgery. She enjoys working with people and their pets assisting with the deep bond that exists between them. Angela works 1-2 days a week at Mitchell Veterinary Services and spends the reminder of her time working at our sister clinic, Coventry Animal Hospital. She has completed courses in ultrasound and dentistry and enjoys attending veterinary conferences to keep up to date on the latest knowledge available. Currently she is studying different aspects of Traditional Chinese medicine including acupuncture and herbal medicine. After hours she enjoys spending time with family, their dog Joy, and cat Lucy along with several pet goats. She also loves gardening, kayaking, hiking and reading. Witnessing daily the relationship between clients and their pets motivates me to continue to develop my knowledge and skills. I believe adding animals to our lives makes us better and healthier people. It has been a blessing to work with such dedicated and compassionate clients and team members over the years.

Dr. Glenn Armstrong, D.V.M., M.B.A


When Glenn was young he spent summers at his uncle’s pig and cattle farm in Elgin County. Later he earned his way through university working at a hog packing plant in Kitchener; hence his interest in food animal agri business. After graduating from OVC in 1992, Glenn worked at a mixed animal clinic in Fergus before joining Mitchell Veterinary Services in January 1994. He supports the dairy and small animal portion of our services but especially enjoys swine health medicine. Glenn currently sits on the complaints and disciplinary board for the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (our regulatory and licensing institution). Glenn went back to school and received his MBA from the IVEY School of Business in 2015. When he is not working he spends time with his wife and two teenage boys. He loves the great outdoors, the family cottage, golfing and squash.

Dr. Phil MeadowsPhil Meadows, D.V.M.


Dr. Philip Meadows was a partner in his family’s dairy farm for 6 years before going to the University of Guelph and graduating as a veterinarian in 2001. We were fortunate that he decided to join our team and become a full partner in 2004. He has a passion for all things dairy and has developed a special expertise assessing milking equipment, milking technique and udder health. He was the President of the Ontario Association of Bovine Practitioners in 2013 and is currently taking the Dairy Health Management Certificate Program at the University of Guelph. Phil and his wife Cathy are very busy raising two healthy rambunctious boys. Phil has always had a special passion for music and is a very good trumpeter.

Dr. Rick Knill, D.V.M.


Dr. Rick Knill graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1988 and joined Mitchell Veterinary Services in 1990. Rick‘s main focus at the clinic has been in the area of dairy health management. In 2001, he initiated the use of ultrasound technology in bovine reproduction in the practice. Rick achieved a certificate in Dairy Health Management from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2004. He has developed expertise in other ruminants such as sheep, goats, water buffalo and alpacas.


Dr. Catherine Cruz, D.V.M


Cathy is very happy to be back practicing veterinary medicine in the area where she grew up. She will be joining our team along with her furry family consisting of a Poodle cross named Kona, and a 3-legged cat named Peggy. Dr. Cruz completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Western Ontario and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph. She has a special interest in surgery and preventative medicine and is a terrific resource for our team and our clients. When Cathy’s not helping animals, she can often be seen biking or walking around Stratford with her husband and 3 young children. Cathy also loves anything fitness or food related and has a special place in her heart for horses and the sport of dressage. Dr. Cruz will be sharing her medical expertise and time with Coventry Animal Hospital and Mitchell Veterinary Services.

Dr. Justine Rudniski, D.V.M.


Justine graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at Guelph in 2011. She worked on the Southern shore of Lake Simcoe in a mixed animal practice and joined the Mitchell Veterinary Services team in November 2012. She also enjoys working at Pauly Veterinary Clinic on Tuesdays. Although she grew up in Toronto, she has always preferred a rural lifestyle. Justine spent her childhood summers at her grandparents’ farm in Shelburne, which led to her aspiration to become a veterinarian. She has completed courses on companion animal dentistry and ultrasound and has an interest in Internal Medicine. Justine really loves cats and has two brown tabbies, Tory and Ninja. She bottle-raised Ninja through the humane society in Walkerton while she was on her externship and never ceases to be amazed by his human tendencies. When she’s not at the clinic, Justine enjoys gardening as well as swimming, road biking and running, in an ongoing effort to train for triathlons.

Dr. Rachel Poppe D.V.M


Dr. Rachel Poppe joined our veterinary team in 2016. Rachel grew up on a pig farm in Perth County and spent several summers working on a nearby dairy farm. She has also spent time, as a student, driving to farms with our other large animal veterinarians as well as in clinic with our small animal veterinarians. Rachel graduated with distinction from the Ontario Agriculture College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in agriculture and later with distinction from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2016 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She was the 2016 recipient of the Ontario Association of Bovine Practitioners’ Herd Management award from OVC. In her spare time Rachel enjoys training her Quarter Horse, Kanga, who she has raised from a foal on her parents’ farm. Rachel looks forward to bringing the most up to date knowledge in veterinary medicine to Mitchell Veterinary Services. She has an interest in both small and large animals, but is especially focused on dairy cattle medicine.

Dr. Reg Reed, D.V.M.


Reg grew up on a farm in Fullarton, Perth County. He helped raise pigs, cattle, and horses. After graduating from OVC in 1977, he practiced at Clappison Corners and Cambridge for 7 years before returning to his home town to establish Mitchell Veterinary Services. Reg enjoys working with all species and has developed an expertise in swine health and production. He is a past president of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and recipient of the OVMA Outstanding Veterinarian of the Year award. Reg and his wife Sue live on a cattle and cash crop farm and have four horses. They raised three children and have two very special grandchildren. Reg enjoys skiing, golf, bicycling, and horseback riding.

Dr. Stephanie Sharkey D.V.M.


Stephanie brings fresh leading edge knowledge to our small animal veterinary team. She completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto and graduated with distinction from the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph in 2013. She grew up in Mississauga in a family that surrounded her with animals; inspiring her to work in a career where she can help nuture and maintain a bond between people and their pets. She has a special interest in feline medicine. She enjoys spending time with her cat, “Basil”, and training her German shepherd “Dax” in various dog sports such as agility, obedience, scent detection, and tracking. Horseback riding is a special hobby too.

Angela Bokkers


Angela grew up on a Perth County dairy farm and realized at a young age that she had a passion for animals and that she wanted a career helping care for them. She started as a student employee at MVS. After graduating from the Ridgetown College Veterinary Technician Program in 2010, she joined us full time. Her work is mostly in Stratford at Coventry Animal Hospital but you can find her at our Mitchell Clinic on Fridays and some Saturday afternoons. Angela comes to work looking forward to the challenges and triumphs that veterinary services have to offer. She is definitely an advocate of all things best for your animals. Away from work, Angela loves spending time with her pets Rafikki the cat, Lincoln a big lazy newfie and Boone a boisterous beagle.

Ashley Streicher


Ashley grew up in North Perth on her family’s pig farm. Growing up she was always around animals and had a passion for helping them. She knew she wanted a career that involved the medical care of animals. Ashley graduated from the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus Veterinary Technician Program in 2016 and has returned home to work locally because community has always been important to her. She is interested in the physical rehabilitation of animals, as well as dentistry and nutrition. She enjoys working with large animals and companion animals to expand her overall knowledge of them. In her free time, Ashley enjoys being outdoors, playing sports such as soccer, hiking and biking.

Deanna Ohlman

Veterinary Technician

Deanna is a Veterinary Technician and works mostly at Coventry Animal Hospital, Stratford, but fills in at Mitchell Veterinary Services too. She graduated from the St. Lawrence College Veterinary Technician Program in 1995. She has worked at veterinary clinics in Toronto and brought a wealth of experience to us when she joined our team in 2012. She enjoys meeting and working with people and their pets. Deanna lives in Stratford with her husband, two girls and their Brittany spaniel Cassia.

Rhonda Kaufman


Mitchell Veterinary Services has been part of Rhonda’s life for a long time. She completed a high school co-op placement with us and then became a part-time student employee. By 1995 she had graduated as an R.V.T. and returned full-time. She has helped the business grow from a small group of people working closely together in the little cottage clinic to the large organization that it is today. Rhonda is primarily kept busy in our lab and with regulatory services. She assists both the large and companion animal vets and the patients in the clinic. Rhonda and her husband, Peter, are kept busy by their son, Jackson, their two miniature schnauzers, two horses. Rhonda’s hobby is competing at local horse shows.


Crystal Pawitch


Crystal grew up in Huron County. She has always been surrounded by animals and the outdoors. She graduated from Ridgetown College in 2000 with a honours certificate in Veterinary Office Administration. She joined us in 2001 as our receptionist and has evolved to the Administration Department. Crystal enjoys the mixed animal aspect of our business and likes interacting with people. She and her family have a cat (Cutie) and a Golden Retriever (Chloe).

Leah Vingerhoeds

Office Manager, Mitchell Veterinary Services

Leah grew up on a hobby farm that has turned into a goat farm just outside of Mitchell. She has always loved animals, whether it be goats, dogs, cats, cows, pigs or fish to name a few! It is amazing to see the bond that is made between a pet and its owner, and I get to see this bond and the love they have for each other every day at Mitchell Veterinary Services!

Nancy Poppe

Practice Manager

Nancy is the Practice Manager for Mitchell Veterinary Services/Pauly Veterinary Clinic and Coventry Animal Hospital. She has worked with us since February 2003. In the same year, Nancy was recognized by the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping as a certified bookkeeper. In 2018 Nancy completed the Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) process. Nancy is a lifelong resident of West Perth. She and her husband, Henry, live on a cash crop farm, have raised four children and enjoy their dogs and horses.

Shelly Crabb

Office Manager, Pauly Veterinary Clinic

Shelly joined Pauly Veterinary Services in 2004. From assisting clients over the phone and in person to aiding the veterinarian in examinations and surgeries, she does it all. Working with pets and their families and seeing the bond between them is definitely a perk for Shelly. On the large animal side, she does the scheduling and data entry of herd healths. When she is not at the clinic she is busy working at home with her husband Geoff on the family dairy farm and her two children Anastasia and Greg.

Bev Raycraft


In 2008, Bev joined the Mitchell Veterinary Services team as a receptionist. Living on a farm all of her life has given Bev an advantage working in a mixed animal practice. As well as reception, she assists with inventory and the Pig Champ Bureau. Bev enjoys working with our staff and our large and small animal clients. Bev enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time at her cottage.

Erica Roney


Erica started working at Mitchell Veterinary Services July 2014 as a student, and has returned to work as a part-time receptionist. Erica is currently going to school for Office Administration. She has always had a passion for farming and spending time with animals. She loves riding horses and helping her dad on the farm.

Jane Pearson


Jane was born in England, grew up in Nova Scotia and is a mother of four children. She and her husband Andy, farm just north of St. Mary’s and raise purebred registered Shropshire and Border Cheviot sheep. Her hobbies include showing sheep at local fairs, at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and across the country. She also enjoys restoring antique tractors with her husband.

Jenn Wilker


Jenn joined Mitchell Veterinary Services in June 2017 as one of our receptionists. She enjoys working with our staff and our large and small animal clients. When Jenn is not working, she is busy spending time with her kids at the arena, baseball field and the barn for horseback riding.

Lil Thalheimer


Lil has been a receptionist at Mitchell Veterinary Services since 2007. She is one of the voices assisting over the phone and greeting you when you come through the door. Lil is eager to pitch in on special projects such as the annual Farley Foundation drive and our Christmas parade float. Her baking is always appreciated at the clinic. Lil enjoys walking and volunteering. She and her husband Pete have two grown children.

Bev Jantzi


Bev is a receptionist at Pauly Veterinary Clinic in Milverton. She grew up in Kitchener but has lived in the Milverton community for about 25 years. She is very outgoing and enjoys helping people with their pets, purchases and requests at the clinic. Bev is very involved in her church and community. She is a director of the Milverton Agriculture Society. Bev and her husband Brian, have four daughters, two cats and a dog. As if that isn’t busy enough, Bev plays ball and manages a synchronized skating team.

Christine Beuerman

Inventory Controller

Growing up on a cattle and pig farm, Christine decided at a young age that she wanted to work in the veterinary business. She joined MVS in 2000 and has been our inventory control person ever since. She is the go-to person when there is a request for special products or when we are trying to locate seldom used inventory item. Christine also helps with reception and generally wherever help is needed. Christine lives in Mitchell with her husband and two children. They have two dogs and two cats. Her hobbies include gardening, cooking, Sea-dooing, and watching her kids play hockey.

Ally lives on a pig farm with her mom, dad, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. In her spare time she enjoys riding horses and playing ringette. In the future Ally hopes to pursue a career surrounding agriculture or working with animals.

Hannah Poole


Hannah lives just outside of Milverton on her family’s dairy farm where they milk 46 cows (tie stall). Along with her parents Victor and Karena, she has an older brother Nic and a younger brother Noah. Hannah enjoys country living and working with all the farm animals. Hannah attends Stratford Northwestern Secondary School where she plays in the school band and plays rugby. She enjoys playing the piano on her own time. Hannah also plays baseball on a ladies church league team and is vice president of her 4-H club.

Professional Groomer

Christine has always loved animals, especially dogs and horses. This led her to a career in pet grooming that started in 1989. She established her own business “Doggie Dooze” in Seaforth in 1996. We have been fortunate to have Christine groom dogs at Mitchell Veterinary Services one day a week, since 2003. Call well ahead for an appointment. She is busy. And her clients – pets and owners alike are very happy!
